Print MIS vs Print ERP

Find me on:

A few years ago when we were first making our foray into the print software space, I met with a company who was looking to modernize their business software. They told us that they had settled on a Print MIS that would manage much of their production workflow and that they were now in the market for an accounting solution. Not knowing much about software offerings in print I was a bit confused. Coming from cloud ERP consulting, I assumed most applications were pretty comprehensive and personally hadn't been exposed to the multiple software syndrome. When they revealed the price they were paying for their MIS I couldn't believe they would have to make an additional investment in accounting software.

The problem is with settling. A print business needs a robust print MIS to manage their print production. With little doubt it is a critical feature. So are the additional modules that may come with a print MIS, such as ecommerce or estimating. However, if you cannot analyze your financial performance or metrics, manage your inventory, manage your gross profit, your revenue, your receivables and payables, you're really settling for a sub-optimal solution. Now, with 2 systems, you've introduced 2 implementations and you've introduced a net new problem. How do you tie the data together and run reports? These problems seem like they belong in the 80s and 90s not in 2022 and beyond.

As a company we realized that the print industry was ripe for a new comprehensive offering, one that included the best that cloud ERP and print MIS had to offer. No longer would the print industry have to settle for the same old offerings year after to year. We built our print solution on the Oracle NetSuite ERP platform, itself a leader in many industries. Our offering includes the core components you would find in a print MIS with so much more:

  • Estimating and Deal Management
  • Print Production and Scheduling
  • Print Integration
  • Purchase Orders
  • Classified Reporting
  • Analytics
  • Accounting
  • Inventory Management
  • Ecommerce
  • Integrations
  • Business Workflows
